I paid for and downloaded a PDF of Agile Web Development with Rails by Dave Thomas, et al. This morning I completed the “Depot” tutorial and I’m confident that I could, at the very least, get a new application up and running with MVC framework and complete test suites in record time.

Aside from some minor errata which you can look up on their aptly titled errata page, I found that it presented the information as well as it could given the volume and complexity. I’ll be tossing out a few suggestions for the next release while I re-read it this week.
