Excellent Health

This morning I had a quick endodontist appointment. The lady at the front desk handed me the usual forms and I took to filling them out as quickly as possible. Personal details, contact information, emergency phone number. I arrived at the form which listed ailments and the ubiquitous “how healthy are you?” checkbox.
My pen would [...]

Weight, Fat, and Math

I’ve weighed in again this morning with my new-fangled fat tracking device and high-capacity scale. I’m down another 3 lbs and 2% body fat from last Monday. During my workout this morning I was thinking about the relevance of the latter.
If the fat percentage had been constant while I lost weight, that would indicate [...]

Cyber Postage

We already have to buy these books of stickers to send postal email. The need is understandable, at least. The government needs money to run the post offices, pay the postfolk, etc. Would you buy a card with “cyber postage” on it to send your email?
That may be what’s around the corner if the powers [...]

Bully for You

Last night my wife surprised me with news that our niece’s first choir concert was starting at 7pm. She offered to go on her own, but I wanted to at least make an appearance for the uncle faction, if nothing else.
We arrived, waived at the kids as we headed for the bleachers, and settled in [...]

Sissy Swimming

“What is that sissy pushup?! Back straight, Klassen!”
I remember the verbal lashing I got from my physical education instructor when I was in school. We had been “testing” for a fitness certificate. Yeah, it was like that.
This morning I was watching another guy who was swimming a lane over from mine. I noticed that his [...]

First Month

I started working out and eating well on 9/17. It’s a month later and the weigh-in shows that I’ve dropped 15 lbs. Exciting stuff, for sure. I’m looking forward to getting the Omron HPF 306 Body Fat Tracker so I can check out the changes to my body fat in addition to the weight metric.

Google Definitions

This probably isn’t new, but it’s new to me. If you want to define a word, you ask google with a query like the one below. This sure beats even m-w.com who is constantly trying to find a way around popup blockers. Thanks to Lifehacker for the great tip on this article.

Weekend and Podcasts

I’m back at work this morning as I’m sure most of you are. It’s amazing how long your weekend can feel if you’re productive and don’t sleep the entire thing away. I was up by 5:30 on Saturday and 6:30 on Sunday (and I felt that I’d overslept!).
I’ve been adding podcast subscriptions to my iPodder [...]

New Banner

Thanks abstrakONE for the kick ass banner. That wide gray bar was starting to make my eyes cross.

Podcasts

Podcasts. Where the hell have I been? I know abstrakONE has posted about them a few times in his blog, but as quick as he goes through technology I never know what he’s tossed and what he’s kept. I gave it a try yesterday and this tech is a keeper.
I downloaded iPodder and inadvertently fell [...]
