Automation: It’s What’s For Breakfast
I’ve always been a big fan of automation. I admit it; I’m lazy.
At work I’m constantly having to type out the same stuff in tickets, emails, etc. The last time I spent any considerable time automating something was with expect in shell scripts. Of course that’s not so good with windows unless you’re into pain. There was another windows automation software that’s escaping my memory right now—it cost a couple hundred dollars so maybe that’s why I’m blocking it. Trauma, you know.
Enter: AutoHotKey.
Endorsed by the folks over at lifehacker.com in a handful of articles. I’m playing with it now and it’s neat so far. I wasn’t sold on it until I read the article below which included a “bloggers” AHK script. I’m in love with the ‘hre’ shortcut for creating links already.
