Holiday Recap
The wife is doing great. She’s off the pain meds and aside from moving a little slower than usual she’s healing nicely. I expect that a lot of the lethargy she was feeling was due to her body fighting with the broken organ. We’ll see how things go.
It was a productive Memorial holiday weekend. Yesterday I spent a few hours helping a friend of the family lay down sod and carry masonry to the back yard. I had no idea that sod rolls weighed that much. I’m going to try to find out for sure but I’m going to say they probably weighed at least 50 lbs each. I loaded them 3 at a time into a wheelbarrow, carted them to the side of the house, and then unloaded them one at a time into their final resting place. I was sure there would have been much suffering today but I’m actually feeling great. I’m no less sore than I am after lifting weights. The glutamine helps take the edge off the muscle repair fatigue.
Jason and I are still struggling to make time for GeekFit podcasts between the hospital stay, my new position at work (got a promotion, woot!), and the general chaos in our household. By chaos I mean the mortgage refinancing, and the subsequent bathroom/laundry room remodel job that turned into a bathroom/laundry room, great room, and dining room remodel job. The water damage that started the whole thing off seems to have crept far enough into the other rooms that a portion of the floor needed to be torn up and with a segment torn up we couldn’t very well replace the flooring with something that didn’t match the rest of the room.
What else? We bought a filing cabinet for my home office. It’s about time, too. I had two plastic containers that held file folders (barely) and I was running out of room. Things weren’t getting filed and with each passing month my office was starting to look like I lived in there.
On the fitness front, I’m back to doing cardio every other day for at least 30 minutes. I didn’t get a chance to get to the gym this morning because honestly I needed the sleep more. That contributed to being able to actually function today, I’m sure. I’ll most likely hit it this afternoon.
I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday and are refreshed and ready to give the office what-for this morning.
