Six Dollars a Day
The food situation on the road has definitely improved. With the lovely wife helping me pick up everything I’ll need through Wednesday afternoon I have more time to hit the gym and relax in the hotel.
When I was packing on the last 70 lbs I was running per-diem receipts totaling $40–50/day easy. This trip I’ll have one receipt for $39.50 (groceries), another for $7.50 (pita on the way out of town), and then $6/day for my cafeteria lunches on-site with the customer. I expect that when I turn in this expense report I’ll get a kick back saying “are you sure you didn’t forget something?!”
The extended stay routine has had its up and downs. When I checked in for this week I had a few challenges:
- the bed was missing its comforter
- the blinds closed, but the right “guide” came off in my hand
- my neighbors scream loud at one another
- the toilet was running for hours until I fixed it
I feel good because I’m eating right, and my tolerance for the workouts has improved. All in all, with the extra time I’ve been able to record Geekfit with Jason twice in the last 2 weeks. Amazing.
