Trails and Lunch 2.0

There are a lot of trails around Vancouver. I didn’t realize how many until I started going through the Vancouver-Clark Washington Parks & Recreation site. Whew, what a mouthful.

The original idea when I set out with Ivy tonight was to head over to one of the nearby trails and walk to the end, turn around, and come back. That plan was foiled by the late hour and the quickly-approaching darkness. We opted to come back to the house and walked from there to Innovation Way (0.86 miles) and back again. We passed the time arguing about things like commission and basic math. I lost, of course. Numbers are hard, okay?

This afternoon I attended Lunch 2.0 here in Portland, OR. It was hosted by Vidoop, the creators of an OpenID product they say foils both phishing and key logging. I created an account, chose my 3–5 images, and logged in and out of it. It seems interesting, so likely more to come on that one as well.

I don’t have the time or energy tonight, but I did meet a bunch of interesting folks that I’ll be writing about here. The last couple of folks I talked to were Frayn and Melissa from backfencepdx.com. Going on the elevator pitch alone, it sounds like a neat concept. I particularly enjoy the idea of “death to powerpoint slides.” Who wouldn’t, right?

Tomorrow I return to the grind. I have a couple things on my plate, but mostly I’m just finishing out the week so I can head to jury duty. I have my salmon colored card and I’m ready to go.
