Remember the Milk

It’s been a while since I wrote a review, and I really have to get back on that. There are so many really good bits laying around and unless we write about them, they don’t get any love.
This site has been around for a while, but I’m steadily shocked when people say they’ve never heard [...]

Fire Breather

My wife is always trying to buy me more “geek bling” and I’m always trying to duck the attention. The other day I finally succumbed to the temptation and let her pick out a new computer for me.
It’s a fire-breather, for sure. In no particular order, here are the specs:

Coolermaster Wavemaster case
Enermax Liberty [...]

Automation: It’s What’s For Breakfast

I’ve always been a big fan of automation. I admit it; I’m lazy.
At work I’m constantly having to type out the same stuff in tickets, emails, etc. The last time I spent any considerable time automating something was with expect in shell scripts. Of course that’s not so good with windows unless you’re into pain. [...]

Geek Bling

It’s all about the geek bling. Why wear gold chains when you can have high-capacity flash devices hanging from lanyards?
I finally caved and bought myself a USB thumb drive a couple weeks ago. After consulting with my buddy Tucker, I decided on the 1GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro. When it showed up I hurriedly pulled it [...]

This is a great read: Top 10 System Administrator Truths. Thanks Kris!

Duplicate AIM Signon

Have you ever forgotten to log off AIM when you left for work in the morning only to be forced to fight for control of your login once you arrived at your desk?
It seems AIM has gotten that sorted out. If you log onto your account more than once, you’ll get a smart message from [...]

Unlocker

There’s nothing quite as maddening as being told by Windows that the file you want to delete is in use, and well, there’s nothing you can do about it. What’s worse is when rebooting your machine won’t release the operating system’s death-grip on the file you so desperately want to eradicate.

Enter: Unlocker by Cedrick Collomb

Firefox 1.5 RC 1

Woohoo! Firefox has their first v1.5 release candidate! Of course I backed up my configuration and snapped it up. I’ll let you know how it goes, but I expect good things. Check out their changes page. Pretty exciting stuff!
When I installed, it puked on some of my plugins, but not all of them. Of those [...]

Google Definitions

This probably isn’t new, but it’s new to me. If you want to define a word, you ask google with a query like the one below. This sure beats even m-w.com who is constantly trying to find a way around popup blockers. Thanks to Lifehacker for the great tip on this article.

Podcasts

Podcasts. Where the hell have I been? I know abstrakONE has posted about them a few times in his blog, but as quick as he goes through technology I never know what he’s tossed and what he’s kept. I gave it a try yesterday and this tech is a keeper.
I downloaded iPodder and inadvertently fell [...]
